[Alright, guess we're going it this way o.o]
~When the night scares away the day and rain turns to fire, I will be there, leading the condemned into the depths of hell.~
There was a trick to not getting lost in mazes but by now it was just second nature to Malik. When you develop a disability..or rather a 'quality' early in life every other sense manuvers to try and make it an advantage. Now it's not to say you should go around gauging out your eye or loosing a limb, but in some ways it carries its advantages. Malik slowly lowered his body to the ground, stretching his paws out infront of him to comtimplate the branching paths. The question was if he wanted to return to the beginning of this little adventure or explore more of the depths of this land. Sure it wasn't his but that never stopped him before. His patched head swayed to the left, allowing his good eye to take in the surroundings. No one would be able to tell at a general stand point that he had fairly poor eyesight, as the only evidence was a slender scar running a half inch from the top of his left eye that most hair had regrown to cover up. His eyes nearly identical in color save for the left being a little lighter. In all it was a miracle he wasn't starved for having a disability at all.
Malik twitched his tail against the earth, feeling for any vibrations that his paws did not pick up. He learned to see with touch to make up for the lack of the blurred and faint eyesight in his left eye, along with using his ears and nose more. It's a wonder what the brain can accomplish. With his gaze secure on his surroundings Malik pressing his nose to the ground and snuffed at the dirt then air. Colder stale air drifted from the right branching path while a sweeter scent came from the left. Mystery solved. He used his front legs to push himself into a sitting position before lazily scratching at his neck with one hind limb. He could get used to this life of traveling, picking off weak and endulging himself in the whole meal before moving off to the next fertile land. Only a fool tried to fight for an already taken land by themself.
Malik's ears pricked, paw pausing in place on his neck before locating a groundhog digging through underbrush a good two yards away. Perfect. Malik slowly lowered his back paw to the ground and crept along his stomach until he perched silent and stalk still 4 feet from the stupid creature. These things seemed to have worse eyesight than he did! In a flurry of fur and screaming on the groundhogs part, Malik leapt from his post and attacked the creature. Jowls parted and slammed shut on its head, shaking it viciously to and fro like a rag until its neck broke. Immediately he dropped his prize and sat beside it, licking at his front paw before dragging it across his face. He wasn't going to eat it right now, oh no, he would wait a good 15 minutes before indulging himself. It was a habit really since he hasn't been in a pack so long he didn't need to hurry to get his piece before being shoved out of the way by the next rank.

|| This might be interesting =D ||
A small white pup walked in the area. She had heard several other wolves around. In this area, she had seen many beautiful things. Flowers, for example. However, she had also found some not so pleasant things, such as breaks in the land. Just sudden drops, holes in the ground. Pitch darkness fell below, and she could see no ends. She had seen a few, but luckily had been paying attention each time, saving herself from falling into oblivion.
Her emerald eyes flickered as she looked at the ground in front of her, remembering the pit falls she had seen not too long ago. She walked slowly, and her steps weren't too big. Her tail was hanging limply, and her head tilted downwards, as to make it easier for her to watch the ground. Make sure it didn't move from in front of her.
This was a very young pup. Few knew her now, so few knew her name to be Yuuni. An innocent pup, taken from her home not too long ago. As much as she missed Mommy, she was wise enough to know that dwelling on her family wouldn't help her to find them. So now you ask. What is an innocent pup doing in the Brink of Despair's lands? Wandering. There are so many evil wolves, though. Why is she here, and not in some more innocent place that fits her? She knows no better, and, again, is simply wandering. No matter how dark a wolf she may meet, she has nothing but her past to think about. Which she prefers to avoid.
Yuuni didn't have many thoughts. More something around That flower is a pretty color!. No thoughts that she might actually run into a wolf. She was quite proud that she had caught a small snack not too long ago, and so she wasn't thinking of food at this precise moment.
But then, she heard something. A bone chilling crack. She wasn't quite sure what it was, but she thought she'd go find out. Not the wisest pup you'd find. The sound had come from her left, so she turned and walked hastily toward that area. Her legs moved in a rather uncoordinated fashion, but she didn't appear to notice. She quickly found herself looking up at another wolf. She just sat there and looked at him for a moment, completely forgetting that she had heard an unsettling noise from not long before. Then she smiled like the unknowing pup she was. "Hi!" she squeaked in an excited tone.

Malik had lowered his body to the earth and began ripping the protective fur skin away from the groundhog. His gaze fell away into the distance into another gorram long lost memory. "Wait your turn cyclops!" Malik was shoved out of the way by his older brother. Five months old and it was no easier getting along with his siblings than it was when they were all blind and fumbling around for the warmth of their mother. Malik issued a short growl, watching his siblings scramble, nip, and yelp at each other for the fresh kill the pack had brought down. Even the runt of his litter was now above him. That day he went hungery.
Malik turned his head so he caught a chunk of bone and meat and gnawed on it with his back teeth. Between all that crunching and memory he didn't notice the little white creature come up near him. "Hi!" Malik jerked his head up from the kill, white face now coated with blood. In a fret his good eye searched for the source of the voice before finally looking down and seeing a pup. His lip curled back to show ivories in an irritation that this...thing..had interupted his meal.

Yuuni giggled that far too annoying giggle as she watched the other wolf jerk back. She shivered as she noticed the blood surrounding his muzzle. "Ewww, you're bloody," she informed him, making a face. She smiled, though, but pulled her head back to get the full effect of the face she was still making. Then she giggled again, even as he bared his teeth. She thought it kind of cute, she had achieved her attempt of getting attention, at least.
"Who're you?" she asked, not polite enough to give her name first, or even phrase her question politely.

Who was he? Who was this thing?! Malik arched his neck to bring his head at an angle to view the pup better. His ears twitched back, usually where a pup was there was an adult not far behind. Another meal to waste. "Go to your pack, pup." He growled up, raising to all fours and snatching half of what was left of the prized meal and began to lop off to the left. He didn't wish to run into any pack, simply come, eat, and leave like he always did. But leave it to a pup to blow his cover.
[yeah, stupid short, >.> Sneaking a break during work lol]

Yuuni looked away. "They're far away." Her words were slightly weaker than before, but she quickly reminded herself not to dwell on the past. She looked back, thinking as much as her young mind could. "Hey, I know," she started, lighting up. "Why don't you stay with me?" she asked excitedly, her tassel swaying behind her and her ears perking up in hope. A grown wolf stay with a young pup. Any wolf would laugh at the way she had phrased it, but she knew no better.
"So why not? You can stay with me, I'll let you!" she continued to blabber. "I think I'd like it, too," she added again.
((Meh, short xD I have to go take a bath xDD))

Why was it still following him?! Malik stopped and dropped the groundhog, glaring down at the pup. "I travel alone and especially not with some...stray." He sniffed slightly, tilting his head to even the pup in the middle in his view. "If you are alone as you say you have no better a place to stay than I, so I could not possibley stay with you." With his muzzle still blood stained he bent his head down to the pups level, surveying her through his good eye and one lighter one. "And you don't look like you could handle a single winter."
Malik's ears twitched as he caught the sound of vultures beginning to sqwuak and circling above when catching sight of his meal. Wretched beasts! He let out a low growl and pushed the pup away from him with a single paw and lopped back over to his kill to engulf as much more of it as he could.

Yuuni listened to him for once. Although listening involves hearing and comprehending (as much as a pup such as Yuuni can) what someone is saying. Listening involves no action, and changed Yuuni's thoughts none. She shivered as the wolf positioned his head nearer to her, only because of the blood that was still surrounding his muzzle. Well, the one eye being different also played a role.
"I could too—" she began to protest after his comment involving winter, but was quickly shoved away. "Hey!" she began to protest once more. She had lost her balance, as even the single paw he has used was much stronger than her small body. She stumbled for a moment, looking even more awkward than she did normally. But she attempted to regain her posture, and actually succeeded. She pranced over to the other wolf again. He had food! Why didn't he tell her? She had caught herself a small snack, not a meal. She was about to walk forward and just enjoy his kill with him, but then it occured to her how strange that would be. She wouldn't like it if another pup just walked up and started eating her food. So she just stepped back a few paces. She turned her head up to the sky, finally noticing the vultures up above. Well she could help him finish the food before they got it, too. But, amazingly, she didn't ask to help him. Just let him be. Even if it were only for a moment.
|| Sorry, I have to go to bed.. I'd have gone through and given you more to work with, but my dad just got home. If you haven't posted by the time I get on tomorrow (between homework and stuff...) then I'll edit some more in xD ||

If it was up to him or any other predator really there would be no buzzards, no scavengers and a hunter would be able to eat its prize in peace! Malik was faintly aware of the pup following him towards his kill. That was the least of his problems until he finally got the buzzards irritated enough to land and not hover to further announce his presense. Malik finally sat beside his meal, gulfing it down in mouthfuls before he was left gnawing on the bones. Oh right..pup. With the pups white coat, similar to his own, it was easy for his bad eye to catch the blur against the lush background. "..Why are you still here? I told you to run off."

"I don't take directions from strangers," she replied proudly, smiling and puffing her chest out, and reclining. She acted as if not listening to those who knew better was actually a good thing. "And besides, why can't I be here? It's not like you own this place," she said again. She knew nothing of how to find out if someone is alpha by their scent. She could figure out scents if she really wanted to, but being as young as she was, that idea didn't even occur to her. "You don't act like a big and mean alpha!" She stood back up, and lowered her front end, swatting a paw in the air before her. Her imitation of an alpha.
She hadn't told this wolf much about her yet. While it probably wasn't a smart thing to talk too much in front of a wolf who was obviously strong was probably not a smart thing for the pup. But she didn't think of that. She always saw others in a... best case scenario. Sure, this wolf was stronger, but she gave him benefit of the doubt, that he wouldn't hurt her. Which could be true. But the bad thing is that she didn't take the time to study another; getting to know someone's personality and being able to read their actions before they occur is what one needs to pay attention to. But she doesn't.
"I'm Yuuni, and I'm 5 months old," she again said with a proud tone. Then, with a flicker in her eye, thinned her eyes slightly, trying to keep a straight face. "And don't you forget it!" she exclaimed. She had managed to keep from smiling, and was proud. A tickle of a smile crossed her face, and she soon began to laugh. Psychotic appearing? Probably.

~Where once there had been life, now was death. And out of death, thus was life sustained. And in that bloody compact, both the living and the dead were joined in a loop as ancient and immutable as the moon that arced above them.~
Malik managed a hearty gruff, raising a brow at the pups strange actions. Again Malik brought up his paw to tumble Yuuni back with barely a half hearted flick. He straightened to mock the high head and tail of an alpha and nimbly stepped over the pup to wandered passed the skeleton left overs of his kill with a sort of pounce at his knees. "Well, Yuuni of 5 months, I'm Malik and here's the thing. You are too young to be wandering by yourself so unless you're daft you'd be best scurrying along the brush and not out here in the open when them vultures land for my meal and find a lush thing like you to take instead." Malik paused in his steps to glance back at Yuuni. "Unless you'd like to see what it's like to fly." A hint of knowing lingered in his words.

Yuuni fell back a bit with a slight "oof" as she felt the force of Malik's tiny flick. She just giggled, though, as she noticed he was now doing his impression of an alpha. Much better than hers! Not too many thoughts flew through her mind, other than an image of the vultures swooping down and finding her. But she didn't think that would happen. No, vultures are too dumb to find her.
Her eyes widened with excitement as his last words. She had instantly thought that flying would be fun. What didn't occur to her would be that Malik might be talking about the vultures carrying her off. "I'd love to fly!" she exclaimed spastically, a wide grin spreading across her face yet again.
